    Insurance Manager

    Job Purpose

    Insurance Program Negotiations, Placement, and Claims: To create, manage and administer appropriate insurance risk strategy aimed at protecting the Group’s assets and business operations

    Major Responsibility Areas

    Essential Function

    • Identify the risks inherent in each of Oando’s business operations and ensure adequate insurance coverage for each identified risk.
    • Auditing insurance coverage in the Group’s assets and advising on relevant cover for deficiencies.
    • Advising on insurance aspects of mergers & acquisitions, and other financing transactions.
    • Provide advice to entities/units on insurance matters; discuss their insurance requirements, taking into account any changes that have happened over the past year (including oil and gas Industry changes) or are about to happen as regards their operations and assets.
    • Review, negotiate, and, where required, issue opinions on any contractual provisions relating to insurance in any contracts to which any of the Oando entities is a party.
    • Ensure that all insurance policies a prudent operator should procure are in place and effective.
    • Liaise with upstream joint venture partners and ensure strategies and implementation on jointly owned assets are aligned and in line with the provisions of the relevant joint operating agreements.
    • Provide advice on, and support the implementation of, cost optimization and improved insurance risk management strategies.
    • Manage the reporting and processing of all claims made by the Company where damage has occurred to any of its insured properties or items or claims made against the Company by third parties, and ensure that any payments received are passed to the appropriate entity/unit.
    • In collaboration with the Company’s brokers, negotiate annually the applicable premium payable on the group’s insurance policies and ensure compliance with all applicable insurance legislation.
    • Manage the preparation of reports on a need-basis to appropriate officers, management, and committees on insurance matters, e.g., an annual report to entity/team leads on the reserves and provisions required to maintain the Company’s insurance fund; an allocation report to Finance which allocates the cost of insurances across the Group and all entities.
    • Ensure timely payment of insurance premiums of all the Oando Entities before expiration of subsisting insurance policies and ensure that there is no exposure as a result of unpaid premiums.
    • Conduct periodic review of the appointment of the Company’s brokers and insurers.
    • Directly supervise the activities of the Assistant Manager and Insurance Officers assigned to provide support for the insurance desk.
    • Provide high-level periodic reports to the Executive Assistant to the DGCE (Dep. Div. Manager, Insurance) on all insurance matters.
    • Work with the Risk and Control team with a view to ensuring all risks that can be mitigated through insurance coverage have been included in the insurance register.
    • Education:
    • BSC, in Insurance, Law, Risk Management, or any other relevant field from a reputable tertiary institution
    • 8 – 12 years of working experience in the Insurance sector.
    • Minimum of 5 years working experience in Oil & Gas sector, Power, and Special Risks insurance programs.
    • Certification from the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (or equivalent) will be an added advantage
    • Experience as an in-house advisor in an E&P firm will be an added advantage.
    • Skilled in Insurance Advisory
    • Ability to interpret and advise on insurance contracts.
    • Good Microsoft Office suite competency.
    • Core Competencies:
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Strong negotiation & communication skills
    • Strong report-writing capabilities
    • Versatility in the user Microsoft Excel
    • Good understanding of insurance and risk management as a whole
    • Good understanding of the Nigerian Oil & Gas Industry
    • Knowledge of the insurance legal/regulatory framework
    • Strong oral/written English language
    • Organised and adaptable to changes.

     

    Assistant Manager, Financial Reporting

    • Job Summary
    • The Assistant Manager, Financial Reporting provides technical and administrative support in executing OERNL financial reporting strategies and obligations that aim to ensure the continued efficiency, profitability and growth of the Company and its subsidiaries.
    • The role is responsible for coordination of the interactions between Financial Reporting Accountants.
    • Approve transactions being recorded and processed with a view to ensuring consistency and accurate reports that reflect a true and fair view of the Company’s financial position at all times.
    • Responsibilities also covers review of financial analysis of assigned entities which will support working capital and liquidity management by senior team members in Finance.
    • The incumbent will also be responsible for presentation of detailed financial information at each reporting period to the respective Financial Reporting Managers.
    • Main Responsibility Areas
    • Review statutory accounts of subsidiaries
    • Approve transactions of corporate and others are posted accurately and timely.
    • Review and approve financial analysis for entities within and outside Nigeria.
    • Check and approve IFRS disclosure checklists in place. and implement solutions to unconventional situations and results oriented.
    • Review and approve detailed analytical reviews to be used for internal and external reporting to key stakeholders.
    • Provide support to ensure strict adherence to set policies and procedures for internal controls over financial reporting
    • Support financial reporting Manager with managing audit requirements with EY and PwC for the consolidated entities.
    • Ensure transactions are recorded in line with IFRS
    • Build system templates for preparation of relevant financial reports to monitor performance and support decision making
    • Key Financial accounting inputs for tax audis.
    • Support JV accounting team on treatment of complex transactions.
    • Education:
    • B.Sc Degree in Accounting or relevant degree
    • Minimum of 8 years relevant work experience
    • Membership of a recognized Accounting Professional Body (ACA / ACCA / CPA)
    • Working experience in a big 4 audit and accounting firm / Oil and Gas will be of added advantage.
    • Good knowledge of IFRS
    • Core Competencies:
    • Strong and effective Interpersonal Skills
    • Good understanding of IFRS
    • Competent in preparing statutory financial statements
    • Oil and Gas Accounting
    • Working Knowledge of Oil and Gas Industry in Nigerian and understanding PSC and Joint Venture Arrangements as well as their key accounting related issues.
    • Understanding of Current and Deferred Taxes
    • Computer Skills – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word etc) and Oracle EBS
    • Ability to think strategically and holistically and provide direction and coaching to the team.

    Senior Reservoir Engineer

    Purpose

    • Provide effective reservoir management of the producing reservoirs.
    • To provide reservoir engineering input and leadership for projects from initial opportunity identification to cessation of production, including selection and definition of development plans.
    • Ensures integration of subsurface and surface parameters in dynamic reservoir analysis, maximizing recovery efficiencies and optimizing production potential.
    • Manage reporting lines and mentor junior staff.

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    • Technical mentorship of interns, lower cadre reservoir engineers

    Scope of Responsibility & Accountability:

    • Participate in multidisciplinary team’s field reviews and selection of quick win opportunities
    • Ensure EHS & regulatory compliance in production operations
    • Develop and Implement production enhancement strategies
    • Mentor young engineers and drive the creation of strategic workflows/processes.

    Major Responsibility Area
    Essential Function:

    • Reviewing/designing, supervising, and analyzing plans and results for pressure transient tests.
    • Reviewing or preparing appraisal programs for reservoir engineering data (PVT, RCAL / SCAL, pressure data, well tests, MDT, etc.)
    • Reviewing data acquisition reports and lab reports from contractors—quality check samples & results, extract properties required for reservoir engineering studies
    • Developing production forecasts and predicting reservoir performance for approval of well proposals
    • Understand and support efforts to mitigate subsurface risk
    • Proposing cost-effective reservoir monitoring and surveillance programs
    • Perform and supervise reservoir simulation studies to test development concepts/recovery schemes and optimize recoveries
    • Continuously monitor reservoir performance, analyze data, and prepare reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
    • Perform and supervise well reservoir surveillance analysis & make recommendations for optimization and proper management of reservoirs
    • Prepare and review written reports of reservoir performance, including explaining and presenting results
    • Develop and quality check reservoir performance predictions, including decline analysis and material balance on producing assets
    • Provide reservoir engineering input to all infill well proposals in terms of reserve calculations, opportunities, well locations, risks, and economic analysis.
    • Prepare and quality check forecasts for business plan and monthly production outlook
    • Review deterministic and probabilistic estimates of in-place hydrocarbon volume
    • Support reservoir related due diligence on potential farm-ins and acquisitions
    • Estimate and review reserves/resources associated with opportunities.
    • Education and Experiences:
    • First Degree in Petroleum Engineering or other Engineering degree with appropriate professional experience, required
    • 5–8 years of experience required
    • Skilled in key subjects within reservoir engineering discipline, which includes but not limited to: reservoir studies, reserves estimation, well test analysis, rock and fluid properties, decline curve analysis & production forecasting, well & reservoir management, field development planning and production support activities
    • Skill level = Capacity to perform these duties with minimal supervision
    • Experience with material balance and reservoir simulation required
    • Experience using standard Reservoir Engineering software, particularly: OFM, MBAL / PROSPER / GAP, Eclipse /T Navigator, Petrel, Ecrin / Saphir
    • Strong Computer Skills
    • High skill level user of MS Office software: Word, Excel & PowerPoint
    • Petroleum economic skills is a plus
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation skills
    • Solid analytical skills: problem-solving and critical thinking
    • Networking and relationship management

    • Awareness of Unconventional Hydrocarbons e.g. Heavy Oil.
